Bait and switch

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from repercussion of your speech. A lesson Mrs. Linda Ronstadt is learning I think. For all those of you who haven’t heard Linda Ronstadt was performing at the Aladdin casino in Las Vegas when she came out for an encore performance of Desperado when she decided that the 4500 people who came to hear sing should also be treated to hear her political beliefs. And that’s were this story gets interesting, she was soundly booed off stage causing many a patron to throw drinks at her and storm out of the casino tearing up her posters and other things related to her. The current owner of the casino saw what was happening and promptly kicked Mrs. I hate America out of the casino and wouldn’t let her back into her luxury suite. 

            What could’ve set the whole crowd off like that you ask? Was she praising Hitler? Was she making racist remarks? No she was sounding the praises of Michael Moore and his anti-American movie Fahrenheit 9/11. Just as bad in my opinion but it is her right to say it, or is it? What these leftist media types don’t understand is that most Americans know that Hollywood is dominated by Liberals and for the most part the average American on either side of the fence doesn’t care. But when they use their position as some sort of bully pulpit to spew their views then we have a problem. If I come to hear you sing I don’t care about your politics so as long as you aren’t forcing me to hear them. One crowd member summed it up perfectly, "She should have sang, kept her mouth shut," an unhappy concert attendee told FOX News after the show. "Whether you agree with here or don't agree with her, it ruined it for me and everyone else there. It's like taking your children to a children's concert and having someone show pornography. It was inappropriate.". The freedom of speech these Hollywood types preach is of the bait and switch variety. Come hear us sing or act and we’ll give you our uninformed opinions at the end or in the middle whether you like them or not. And if you boo us you must be against free speech right? 

            So now we are back to repercussion. The owner of the casino throws her out to which Michael Moore says "What country do you live in?" Moore asked. "Last time I checked, Las Vegas is still in the United States. And in the United States, we have something called, 'The First Amendment.'...For you to throw Linda Ronstadt off the premises because she dared to say a few words in support of me and my film, is simply stupid and Un-American." And he knows what it means to be un-American after all; heck he practically invented the genre. But again what he and the rest of his leftist buddies don’t understand is that no one came to hear a political speech by Linda Ronstadt, they came to hear her sing. As for the owner of the casino if would be no different then if someone yelled “I have a bomb” or “Fire”. Her statements caused bedlam and chaos so she had to go. After all he was paying her to sing not preach you fat bastard. Linda herself said, “This is an election year," she told the Los Angeles Times. "I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and learn something about the issues and go and vote. ... I'm not telling them how to vote. I'm saying, get information about the issues." Oh please she doesn’t want them to get information; she wanted a captive audience to unknowingly listen to her Leftist beliefs. What she got is what far less than she deserved. Mrs. Ronstadt lose some weight and start thinking like a human you fat piece of shit.
